Reece Brassler, Esq. has joined Kennerly Montgomery after relocating back to the Knoxville area after working in New York City for a time. In New York, Reece primarily practiced commercial litigation, representing corporate and individual clients in court, arbitration and mediation in matters involving business divorces, contract disputes, construction litigation, and intellectual property.

Intellectual Property Law
As a student and attorney, Reece has conducted trademark background searches and filed various marks for small businesses and advised clients ranging from online education start-ups to filmmakers on a variety of copyright issues. He also has experience litigating matters concerning the Uniform Trade Secret Act and intellectual property theft. Reece has the knowledge and experience to help you protect your business's identity and your creative works.
Before joining his prior law firm in New York, Reece worked in-house at CH Media where he supported general counsel in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing commercial agreements, clearing digital content, and researching copyright, employment, and trademark issues. He also served as a legal advisor and video-podcast producer at a New York digital media start-up where he oversaw operations and researched and drafted topical materials for interviews with guests from the fashion and tech industries.
While in New York, Reece was an active member of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association’s (“NYIPLA”) Copyright Law & Practice and Trademark Law & Practice groups, Reece has assisted drafting of an Amicus Brief in a seminal Trademark case heard by the Supreme Court of the United States, contributed to NYIPLA’s PodBites Podcast, and regularly drafts articles on notable Trademark Decisions for NYIPLA’s The Report.
While attending the University of Tennessee College of Law, Reece served as a student attorney in the Trademark Clinic where he managed trademark portfolios, filed registrations, and responded to office actions on behalf of corporate and individual clients.
As a student of New York University School of Law, Reece was an associate for the non-profit Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts where he advised on copyright and trademark matters, conducted client interviews and legal research, and drafted art and entertainment related contracts and memoranda.
One of Reece's biggest passions is being an advocate for social justice, civil rights, and providing access to justice initiatives. As a student, Reece worked with the Tennessee Human Rights Commission in creating a guided interview to assist pro-se litigants in filing Employment, Housing, Public Accommodations, and Title VI discrimination complaints against state agencies. Reece also worked at Legal Aid of east Tennessee where he assisted indigent clients with a variety of civil and familial matters. He has conducted over 300 hours of pro bono services in Tennessee and New York.
Reece is admitted to practice in both Tennessee and New York.
When not practicing law, Reece is interested in traveling, playing tennis and fantasy sports, watching college football, practicing piano and guitar, and trying new craft beers. He is also the Director of Communications for his family's local preschools.
While living in New York, he was a three year member of the National MS Society Young Leadership Board where he participated in the Bike MS and Walk MS events annually and helped raise funds for MS research.
Reece obtained his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2017. After obtaining that, Reece also obtained an LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law, also cum laude, from the New York University School of Law in 2018. Prior to these, he also obtained his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in English with a focus on Rhetoric and Writing an a minor in Political Science from the University of Tennessee in 2011.
