C. COULTER GILBERT
C. COULTER GILBERT attended the University of Tennessee (B.S. 1980, with highest honors) and Harvard Law School (J.D. 1983). He is a member of the California and Tennessee Bars. Mr. Gilbert commenced his legal career in 1983 with the Los Angeles office of a Wall Street law firm and joined Kennerly, Montgomery & Finley, P.C. in 1986. His areas of practice include general business and corporate law, municipal and governmental law and estate planning. In 1990, Mr. Gilbert was elected to a four year term to the Tennessee General Assembly as one of Knox County's State Senators. He was reelected without opposition in 1994 and served as Chairman of the Senate's Environment, Conservation and Tourism Committee and as the Senate Chair of the Legislative Workers’ Compensation Oversight Committee. Mr. Gilbert received numerous awards and recognitions during his service in the state legislature, including on three occasions (1993, 1994 and 1996) Common Cause's Bird Dog Award for Promoting Integrity and Honesty in Government. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Smoky Mountain Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the East Tennessee Historical Society, Nine Counties One Vision, Metropolitan Drug Commission, Childhelp Tennessee, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley, the Tennessee Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, and the Salvation Army Advisory Board.
