WILLIAM S. LOCKETT, JR.

WILLIAM S. LOCKETT, JR. is a civil litigator at the trial and appellate levels in both state and federal courts. Mr. Lockett has a diverse practice representing clients in medical malpractice cases, employment discrimination (gender, pregnancy, race and disability discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation under Title VII, Tennessee Human Rights Act, etc.), ERISA litigation, commercial law disputes and business tort cases. Mr. Lockett graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1976 with a B.A. degree, having majored in history and political science. Mr. Lockett received his J.D. degree in 1982 from the Cumberland School of Law, where he was Associate Editor of the Cumberland Law Review, Justice of the Moot Court Board, President of the Tennessee Student Bar Association, and selected for membership in the Order of Barristers. After graduating from law school, Mr. Lockett served as law clerk for the late Mr. Justice Ray L. Brock, Jr., of the Tennessee Supreme Court. Mr. Lockett has served as an adjunct Associate Professor of Law at the University of Tennessee College of Law, and has lectured on litigating employment law cases. Mr. Lockett currently lectures at the University of Tennessee on Business Communications for the Speech Communications Department. Mr. Lockett is a co-author of the chapter on Age Discrimination in Employee Benefits in the ERISA Litigation Reporter, published by BNA. Mr. Lockett is admitted to practice before all state courts in Tennessee, the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Tennessee, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. He serves on the Advisory Board of Legal Aid of East Tennessee and is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Knoxville Bar Association.
