Seven Years of Christenberry Kids

July 02, 2019

Ice Cream Social Image 1On Friday, June 21st, we held our annual in-firm ice cream social fundraiser to gear up for the seventh school year of our partnership with the kindergarten class at Christenberry Elementary in north Knoxville.

Four times a year, we deliver new and gently used books to the underprivileged kindergarteners at Christenberry who have aged out of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program and still need books to read.

At every distribution, the students are given a brand new hardcover book and get to choose two more from tables of gently used books that the firm has collected during the year. From superheroes to Doc McStuffins, we’ve got it all!

When it comes to giving away these gently loved books, we try to be selective so that we’re not giving these kids anything we wouldn’t give our own. Each book donated is inspected for damage, writing, and content before being set on the tables for selection by the students.

Our first distribution for the new school year will occur in September, but that hasn’t stopped us from selecting our brand new book for the upcoming kindergarten class: “City Dog, Country Frog” by legendary children’s author Mo Willems.
